Why create the INSTN Foundation?
The current challenges in the fight against climate change are forcing us to question the ways in which we produce and use energy. The French National Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology (INSTN), administered by the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), provides highly specialised Education and Training programmes in nuclear science and technology, in the fields of energy and health.
In a rapidly transforming world, how can we attract and train the new talent who will play a key role in meeting people’s future energy and health needs? The INSTN Foundation, sheltered by Fondation de France, was set up in 2016 to develop and promote Education and Training in the nuclear sector and more broadly in low carbon energy.
Careful consideration of students’ life conditions, designing new educational tools and innovative training facilities, working closely with companies through creation of teaching chairs and ensuring knowledge transfer; these are the visions shared by the INSTN Foundation’s founding members. We need to encourage more young people in France or abroad to become involved in society and take responsibility by joining the energy transition and the fight against climate change.
